Dedicated to child safety education.

Safe Sleep

Acadiana Safe Kids is committed to reducing sleep-related infant deaths by providing Safe Sleep education, training, and resources to families and caregivers across the community. Through community outreach, home visits, and partnerships with hospitals and local agencies, we teach parents how to create a safe sleep environment—placing babies on their backs to sleep, using a firm, flat surface, and keeping the sleep area free of pillows, blankets, and toys. We also help connect families in need with safe cribs and sleep spaces. In partnership with Cribs for Kids®, we work to certify hospitals and other agencies as Safe Sleep Partners, ensuring that consistent, evidence-based practices are promoted throughout our region. By following the American Academy of Pediatrics Safe Sleep Guidelines, Acadiana Safe Kids empowers families with the knowledge and support they need to give every baby the safest start possible.

Car Seat Safety

At Acadiana Safe Kids, we promote proper car seat and passenger safety practices as essential components of child injury prevention. Through workshops, community events, and free car seat inspections, we teach caregivers how to choose the right restraint system and how to install and use it correctly. We’re proud to partner with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission’s Child Passenger Safety program to expand access to CPST (Child Passenger Safety Technician) certified checks, host fitting stations, and distribute resources that support adherence to Louisiana’s child passenger restraint laws. By combining education, hands-on support, and strong partnerships, we help ensure that every child rides safely—every trip, every time.

Water Safety

Acadiana Safe Kids is dedicated to preventing childhood drownings by providing water safety training, education, and resources throughout the community. Through hands-on demonstrations, community events, and partnerships with local organizations, we teach families how to create safer environments around pools, lakes, and other water areas. Our team promotes constant supervision, proper barriers and fencing, and the importance of early swim lessons to build children’s confidence and safety skills. By raising awareness and equipping families with the right tools and knowledge, Acadiana Safe Kids helps ensure that every child can enjoy the water safely.
